Studio Movie Grill, a very successful movie theater/restaurant
with two locations in North Texas, recently switched from using Aloha TableService on traditional
POS terminals to using it on handheld terminals. Texas Cash Register, a Dallas-based Aloha/Radiant
Reseller organization, introduced Studio Movie Grill to Aloha TableService in 2001.
“We switched to handheld terminals to expedite the customer experience so that they can get their
food faster and more efficiently,” said Brian Schultz, president and founder of Studio Movie Grill.
“Using handhelds to take customer orders cuts a whole step out of the ordering process. It saves
walking and time.”
At Studio Movie Grill, customers watch first-run movies while eating dinner. The servers take the
customers' orders as they sit in a theater and bring the food out, refill drinks, etc. during
the movie. “Use of the handheld terminals enhances the customer’s perception of service since the
server maintains visual contact with the customer,” explained Schultz. “They don’t have to
leave the room to place the order, which gives them more time to focus on customer service.”
Congratulations to Texas Cash Register for this great win!

Studio Movie Grill is all about making it easy. How many times have you asked "should we eat
before or after the movie?" We have the answer--one stop movie and meal set in a great atmosphere.
How is this possible? Studio Movie Grill has a full food, soft drink, along with beer, wine and
liquor menu available before and during the movie.
Once you are seated in your comfortable individual leather chair that swivels, rolls,
and tilts, servers will take your order like any restaurant. Your food will be brought to you
inside the theater, usually before the movie starts, so you can enjoy your meal during the show.
You will also be given a small coaster light. We don't want to disturb you during the feature,
so the coaster light lets our staff know you want service and we are ready to take your order
or get you a refill. Your check will be dropped 40 minutes before the movie ends and you can
pay out at your convenience.
